2021 ChessFest
School Events at Manchester Square Garden

Friday 15th July was designated as a Schools’ day, and saw 150 children from CSC supported schools attend a chess-filled fun day held at Manchester Square Garden in London. Children were given chess lessons, a simultaneous display from a chess master, and a tournament. There were also readings from Alice Through the Looking Glass, the theme of 2021’s ChessFest.

In the afternoon, older children got a chance to try on some armour, some of it as old as the 15th century, as staff from the Wallace Collection came across the road to give the children a real treat. The day ended with the London schools on the giant chess boards, while the children from out of town were treated to a trip to Madame Tussauds before heading home.
