ChessFest Liverpool 2023

Over 500 chess enthusiasts flocked to Liverpool's Chavasse Park next to the Liverpool ONE shopping centre on Sunday, 16th July, for ChessFest Liverpool 2023.

ChessFest was jointly organised by Chess in Schools & Communities Merseyside Coordinator, Jenny Long, and Liverpool Chess Club's Jim Gallagher, with support from the fantastic Liverpool ONE team who provided tables, chairs, security, WiFi, and a giant screen.

Liverpool Juniors played an online blitz game against a team of juniors from London who were based at the sister event being held in Trafalgar Square. A close-fought game saw the team from London emerge victorious.

There was also a simultaneous display from GM Stephen Gordon with support from other local chess masters.

As well as being well attended, Chessfest Liverpool was also featured on ITV News for the North-West.
